An Evening of Ukrainian Songs — A Charity Concert

We invite you to join us for an evening of music and solidarity featuring singer Oksana Parshenko and pianist Alexander Alabin. This charity concert is dedicated to the beauty of Ukrainian song, with all proceeds from the event going directly to help Ukraine. Oksana belongs to that rare circle of artists for whom intimacy becomes strength, using her voice to draw the listener inward through nuance and emotional honesty rather than theatrical display. She is supported by the deep accompaniment of Alexander Alabin, whose search for new meanings within familiar music allows even well-known pieces to sound as though they were written anew.

The program will be conducted in both Ukrainian and English, though all songs will be performed in their original language. At the heart of the evening are the rediscovered works of 1960s Ukrainian masters—Myroslav Skoryk, Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Ihor Shamo, and Platon Maiboroda—music that is once again finding its way back to listeners today. These will be joined by contemporary compositions, including the work of Marina Morits, who sets the poignant poetry of Lina Kostenko and other great Ukrainian poets to music. Throughout the performance, instrumental pieces may emerge and guest musicians may join to add further depth to this musical narrative.

As is tradition at Kvartira, our evening follows a BYOB policy, so we welcome you to bring your own drinks to enjoy during the performance. Because our space is intimate and seating is limited, we kindly ask that you register early to ensure a spot and help us prepare for the evening.

Вечір української пісні — благодійний концерт

Є музика, яка звучить голосно. А є така, що говорить тихо — і залишається з нами надовго.

Співачка Оксана Паршенко належить до рідкісного кола артистів, для яких камерність стає справжньою силою. Її голос не прагне вражати гучністю чи зовнішнім ефектом — він говорить подихом, інтонацією та щирістю. У цьому співі є тепло, делікатність і відчуття, що кожне слово має вагу.

Піаніст, гітарист та аранжувальник Олександр Алабін підтримує цю атмосферу глибиною акомпанементу та несподіваними гармонічними барвами. Його підхід — це пошук нових сенсів у знайомій музиці. Віртуозність тут не про швидкість, а про відкриття: інколи добре відома пісня звучить так, ніби народилася заново.

У програмі — українські пісні знані й маловідомі. Особливе місце займають твори композиторів 1960-х років — Мирослава Скорика, Володимира Івасюка, Ігоря Шамо, Платона Майбороди — музика, що знову повертається до слухачів.

Прозвучать також пісні сучасних авторів, зокрема Марини Моріц — випускниці Львівської консерваторії, яка пише музику на вірші Ліни Костенко та інших українських поетів.

Можливі інструментальні номери та участь запрошених гостей.

Концерт благодійний — усі зібрані кошти будуть спрямовані на допомогу Україні.
