FILM CLUB. We’re From Jazz! (1983), directed by Karen Shakhnazarov

Join us at 6:00 PM on March 21 as we continue exploring Soviet culture through cinema in our bi-weekly film club! From revolutionary beginnings to late-Soviet classics and later reflections, we’ll sit back, relax, discuss, and enjoy the films that shaped—and questioned—one of the most influential societies of the 20th century.

Our next screening will feature We’re From Jazz! (1983), directed by Karen Shakhnazarov, a musical comedy of Soviet jazzmen pursuing their artistic passion in spite of the hurdles of a conservative bureaucracy and political correctness. The screening will include a short historical introduction by Gregory McEvoy. Tea and snacks will be provided.
